Harmony (any level)
We will explore 2 & 3 part foreground and background harmonies (Doo-wop, Everly Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel, the Beatles etc.). We’ll do a tiny bit of theory so you can write your own harmonies and will learn how to work in a small choir and how to apply harmonies to small choirs and bands.
Songwriting (any level)
We will explore the top 12 hit song chord progressions and how to build a full melody, verse and chorus from one s small idea. Which comes first: melody, lyrics, imagery or rhythm? We will analyze songs and explore why they work. Everyone will finish an original composition. We’ll also discuss lyric writing copyrighting and recording.
