Plan to arrive around 4:30- 5 pm friday evening.
How to get to Seven Springs:

Coming  from the  southtake the first  Parksville exit #46, just opposite the truck scales, as if you are going to the scales.  You take the first left after the exit.…. onto Kaye road. Coming from the north, Take the first exit south of the Englishman river bridge #46. ( You come around a curve, ) There will be signs directing you to the truck scales, take the truck exit.. You will be on Kaye road, Drive just behind the truck scales on Kaye road and take the little driveway that goes straight alongside the highway for about 100mtrs.   (We’ll have  some VIMW signs up for you)  Go through the gate and you’ll see the lodge, where a table will be setup for registration..

 Essential items to bring

** Warm sleeping bag & pillow,

The beds in the dorms rooms are bunks with covered foam mattresses, so a bottom sheet brings the comfort level up.
The covered wagons have heaters, but make sure that your sleeping bag is cosy..

Don't forget your pillow!

**Towel, personal toiletries
and flip flops, for the showers…
There are two big shower houses for the covered wagon camping areas, and for the camper folks.

You are more than welcome to bring a tent and set it up.
**Flashlight,  very important!  It gets dark out in the country…

**Raingear, umbrella, sunscreen. (it is the west coast) The forecast is good at this point, but it could fool us

**Warm Clothes,  walking shoes,

** Earplugs,

if you really need to get some sleep..

**Instruments

*Paper and pencil,

*Small recording device, and accessories ie spare batteries, etc.

*Instruments, spare strings, etc., closest music store is 10 km away in Parksville.

*(Folding) session chair (no arms) with your name on it, is not a bad idea.  This will allow you to be able to use all of the options for jam spaces on the property., especially over in the covered wagon and tent areas.

 A well rested body.

(campers do anything to get to VIMW events)

7th Annual VIMW weekend schedule

Courses will be held in the cabins, the white house near the lodge, dining room, downstairs large room, dorms in the lodge, on the porch of the lodge, in the tents, and in the covered area by the wagon circle.

If you’re in a room or a cabin, please put your stuff away after you get up and dressed as your accommodation area will be used for teaching purposes. Check the large sheet posted on the wall on the lodge deck on Saturday morning for information about where your courses will be held.

Unfortunately, showers in the lodge are in short supply. There are more in the bathrooms by the two wagon circles which are at the left side of the large open grassy field when you drive in.

A soup and sandwich supper will be provided on Friday night about 6 pm.

An instructor meeting will be held in the living room of the white house near the lodge at 7pm sharp on Friday. All instructors please attend. There will be an instructors concert starting about 8PM.

On Saturday and Sunday breakfast will start at 8 am and go until about 9:15. .
Lunch will be served at 12 noon each day and will go until 1pm.
Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm, and will go until about 6:30.
Snacks will be served at about 10- 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday in the lodge.

Please, no playing outside after 11:00 as this is a residential area (The fire pit by wagon circle is OK for quiet playing until midnight but after that, wagon sleepers may ask for quiet. Please cooperate.).

Coffee and hot water for tea (and bags etc) and dispenser bottled water will always be available in the lodge.

Classes go from 9:30 to 11:30 and 1:30 to 3:30 each day (plus June’s and Guido’s extra ones-see below).

The instructor demonstration concert starts at 8pm in the lodge on Friday night.

June Cannon’s absolute beginner fiddle classes for the adventurous souls that would like to try fiddle for the first time will start at 3 :45 and go until 5:15ish on Saturday and from 11:30 to 12:15 on Sunday. She has a limited number of fiddles (8 or so) available so please bring one if you have one and want to take this class.

Guido Heistek’s extra beginner/intermediate uke class will be at 4:00-5:15 in the white house on Sat.

The student's concert starts at 7pm sharp on Saturday. You are allowed to front a group once but can accompany others as often as you are asked.

The sign up sheet for the students concert will be posted at 9 am on Saturday in the lodge by the door and will stay up for an hour or so until it’s full. There will be 30 spots and the first 30 to sign up get to perform not necessarily in the order of sign up. We will reserve 5 spots for first time performers at VIMW who want to gather the courage to perform but can’t bring them selves to sign up before the list is closed (the “chicken in” spots). Come and tell Wendy or Granville if you want to “chicken into” the concert. The concert order will be posted at several locations on the site later in the day. Students can ask instructors (and you should do as it’s a great experience) to accompany them in their performance in the concert.

Because of the nature of Seven Springs, we have no way of controlling who comes on the site. Therefore, please do not leave your instruments and valuables lying in your rooms when you’re not there. Please keep your eye on your valuables and instruments and take them to your room at night. The owners of instruments and valuables are responsible for them at all times. Vancouver Island Music Workshop and Seven Springs take no responsibility for instruments and valuables.
