It is part of our mission to encourage and provide a musical experience for as many aspiring musicians as possible and VIMW is pleased to announce two scholarship programs. The number of scholarships available each year is at the discretion of the Board of Directors and dependent on finances available. Scholarships will not be renewed in subsequent years.
The first scholarship(s), created to help young musicians attend our workshop, is called “Pay Your Age” and is/are available to those applicants 19 to 25 years of age who, for whatever reason, cannot afford the fees. Applicants would pay their age plus $50.00 for the weekend.
The second scholarship(s) for all others, would pay one half of the cost of the weekend. This program is aimed at anyone who may be in a tight situation financially and would otherwise not be able to attend the workshop.
Both scholarships would require a work trade. Nothing major, but the successful applicants would be expected to assist with setting up and cleaning up after the concerts, moving tables and chairs, setting up for meals, ensuring hot water is available for coffee and tea, generally just helping the weekend run smoothly.
Applicants will be required to send either a letter or email to VIMW giving their general circumstances and describing the reason they would like the assistance. No one but the Board of Directors will know who the recipients of the scholarships are and the Board’s decisions are final.
Donations from full paying attendees who wish to help support these scholarships are gratefully welcome and there is a check off box for these on the application form.
